Job Evaluation
The challenge:
Our client was a large not for profit agency that had not ever examined its salary and compensation scales and was now facing the potential of a strike and unionization.
Our solution:
We recommended a job evaluation process that included a large representative group of employees from all areas of the organization. This group was taught the basics of job evaluation and worked with the consultants to evaluate and classify all of the jobs. At the conclusion of the project, there were a number of grievances. A n appeal committee had been built into the project and this new group of employees re-evaluated the jobs. The result was no changes in the original recommendations. The grievances and union drive were dropped. The client has now utilized the Legacy Bowes job evaluation system for the past 10 years and periodically returns to us for advice.
