Legacy Bowes is pleased to announce that Jennefer Nepinak will be joining the organization as the new Vice-President, Strategic Partnerships and Reconciliation on July 1, 2022.

Nepinak – who is a proud member of the Minegozhiibe Anishinabe (Pine Creek First Nation) – brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience from her previous roles as the Associate Vice-President, Indigenous Engagement at the University of Winnipeg, as well as past leadership roles at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, the Treaty Relations Commission of Manitoba, and with various First Nation governments, as well as with the governments of Canada and Manitoba. She has also served as a board member with the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs Elders Council, the Treaty Legacy Foundation, Rossbrook House, the Helen Betty Osborne Memorial Foundation, The University of Winnipeg Board of Regents, the Canadian Education Coalition, and Manitoba Hydro.

“I am very excited to join the Legacy Bowes team. I admire the business approach that works to encourage Indigenous perspectives application in all that it does,” Nepinak said.

“As we work towards the implementation of Call to Action #92 for all of Canada, we must all work together to seek a meaningful and respectful process that moves beyond words. Together, with the Legacy Bowes Team and with you, I look forward to achieving new benchmarks on the Truth and Reconciliation dialogue.”

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Call to Action #92 is directed at the corporate sector and its leadership to “to apply its principles, norms, and standards to corporate policy and core operational activities involving Indigenous peoples and their lands and resources.”

In response to this Call to Action, Legacy Bowes began developing an online program in association with an Indigenous development team to help guide non-Indigenous businesses on their path towards reconciliation. In her new role, Nepinak will be overseeing Legacy Bowes’ TRC Call to Action #92 Awareness Program, which is set to launch on June 1, 2022.

Lisa Cefali, Partner, Executive Search and Strategic Development with Legacy Bowes, said the organization is excited for Nepinak to join the team.

“We believe that great things can happen when you have the right people around the table. Jennefer – with her perspectives, views, and experiences – is the right person to bring this program to life and we are thrilled she is joining our team,” Cefali said. “Jennefer will be a force of positive change on the corporate sector’s path towards reconciliation and we are excited to help realize her vision of what the Legacy Bowes TRC Call to Action #92 Awareness Program can be.”
